The emphasis of Cincinnatus Buckanatus Catholic Kingdom, whose King is The Buckanator, is a newsletter about God, Family & Farm. I live in Cincinnati Ohio, the Queen City named after Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus born 519BC. He was known in Rome, by which he was called into duty in leaving his small farm to lead and fight in a battle over an invasion of his homeland. After the battle he quickly “…1relinquished his power, resigned and returned to his small farm and thus set an example of outstanding leadership, service to the greater good, civic virtue, humility, and modesty”
Its been a week since returning from Louisiana of the 2nd Annual Crusader Congress of the “Fellowship of the Clans”2. This was a Congress like no other where “Leaving Modernity”, artist Norman Faucheux’s commissioned depiction of rebuilding the Kingdom of Christendom by Returning to the Land was inspirational in its representation of families who drove from the far reaches across the nation in their ‘Declaration of Utter Dependence on God’3 which was based on ‘The Framework of a Christian State’; a book by E. Cahill S.J.4 These families “…mutually pledge to each other [their] Lives, [their] Fortunes, and [their] Sacred Honor”5. The friendships that were forged is the beginning of a new way of life. One that first focuses on Jesus Christ as our King, and HIS mother Our Lady of Walsingham6 for protection and intercession, followed by our Catholic community in helping each other to get to heaven through collaboration, charity, fraternal correction (correctio fraterna) and yes returning to the land via farming.
I had ample reasons to forego this Congressional session of the Fellowship of the Clans; as ole sparky, a referenced name provided by Mike Church of the Crusade Channel, referring to the demons of modernity in keeping one slothful. But by the grace of God, voting harder is just plain insanity; and thus as Bilbo Baggins so eloquently said “I’m going on an adventure”! And an adventure it was. Brother Andre Marie reminded us that “…we are judged by what we love, not what we hate; to focus on the good not on the bad”. 7 In these troubled times, we show “Joyful Perseverance” 8, “we get comfortable being uncomfortable”9, and we understand “Why things work”.10
I returned home after some 15 hours of driving, reflecting, being grateful to God almighty for bringing me to this Congress of solid Catholic families. I have slowed my pace in choosing the rightful and priority things of which I need to focus my attention. The cadence of my prayer life is more meaningful and focused on what I am saying, how I am saying it and surely with more heart and love. My hands are getting more enriched by the soil of planting this year’s crops. When I spin my wheels, I have a Fellowship of the Clans community that I can rely upon to assist me. I am truly grateful for everyone I met during the Congress in solidarity; especially Mike and Candace Church. May God Bless Us All.
